THE BRIDGE
Bridge Foundry, Wednesbury, West Midlands
Aluminium, resin and iron 300mm x 900mm x 900mm
THE BRIEF
The client wanted to commission a sculpture which would incorporate the patterns that the foundry had been making for their regular customers; a talking point for their main reception area.

THE PROCESS
The cut forms are taken from several aluminium die cast patterns. Arranged and welded to take the shape of a bridge and representative of the foundry’s customer base, it stands in the reception area inviting clients to recognise their particular model.
The arms were plaster cast and resin forms made and set into position; a reflection of the labour, undertaken by the workforce, pouring ladles of molten aluminium into the patterns seen here.
