THE BRIEF
The charity wanted to create a garden of reflection, remembrance and recognition of organ donors and their families; a place where loved ones and donor recipients could remember those who had given.
The central area of the garden was to be used for the installation of a commissioned sculpture, the design of which would need to be handled with sensitivity.
THE DESIGN
The work acknowledges the symbolism inherent in the charity’s logo: the forget me not – remembering all who have given and their families; the butterfly, a peacock – beautiful and fleeting, a gift to those who witness it; and the circle of life – a constant for us all, bringing a new dawning, a new beginning.
